Fix My Eyes
When we fix our eyes, our hearts and our affections Jesus, our lives will change. When we choose to OBEY God's word and apply it to our lives, the PROMISES and BLESSING that follow are AWESOME!
Today's devotional is scripture-heavy. The reason being, to fix our eyes on the things of God - it's more important that you read it directly from the inspired and never changing WORD OF GOD - rather than just taking my word for it!
When we center our lives around the word of God, our atmosphere begins to change! I'm talking, long life, peace, protection, prosperity, increase, influence, health, dominion, and God's supernatural intervention in your life kind of change! The BENEFITS far out way any LIE or DECEPTION the enemy could try to throw at you. For example, Satan wants you to think that the Bible is a rule book of "what not to do." He wants to make you think God is holding out on you. That's a bunch of CRAP! We are more empowered and fulfilled IF we choose to follow scripture than when we try to run from it! 2 CORINTHIANS 4:18 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ISAIAH 26:3 3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. NAHUM 1:7 7 The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, PROVERBS 23:26 26 My son, give me your heart, And fix your eyes to observe my ways.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS
The life you lead is by choice. Every day you make decisions that affect your quality of life.
Am I going to eat healthy? Will I work out today? Should I read my Bible? Should I volunteer at church?
The beauty of free will is that you get to choose the life you live. No one else can make you dive into the Word of God, eat healthy food, or budget financially. To live an abundant life, you must CHOOSE to live an abundant life. You have to step out in faith. That being said, don't continue to blame God or others when things don't go the way you want them to. Our actions have consequences. Some would call that the universal law, or karma, but we know the truth of God's Word is that we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). If you make the choice to APPLY and OBEY Gods word, He will bless your life.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BLESSINGS
DEUTERONOMY 11:18-28 18 “Therefore you SHALL lay up these WORDS of mine in your HEART and in your SOUL, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your EYES. 19 You SHALL teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20 And you SHALL write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 that YOUR DAYS and the days of YOUR CHILDREN may be MULTIPLIED in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. 22 “For IF you carefully keep all these commandments which I command you to do—to love the LORD your God, to walk in ALL His ways, and to HOLD FAST to Him— 23 THEN the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess greater and mightier nations than yourselves. 24 EVERY PLACE on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, shall be your territory. 25 NO MAN shall be able to stand against you; the LORD your God will put the DREAD of you and the FEAR of you upon all the land where you tread, just as He has said to you. 26 “Behold, I set before you today a BLESSING AND A CURSE: 27 the BLESSING, IF you OBEY the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you today; 28 and the CURSE, IF you do NOT OBEY the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.
BLESSINGS IN OBEDIENCE
If you continue reading in Deuteronomy, you will learn more about about the curse. Deuteronomy 28: 26-28 tells us that we have a choice between the curs and 'blessing'. I don't know about you, but "the curse' seems pretty ominous and not at all something I want hanging over my life! But here is the kicker, God literally tells us the answer to what should be the most obvious choice ever! He says CHOOSE BLESSING! Nobody wants to live a cursed life, full of struggles and pain. But yet, so many do. Rather than submitting to the will of our Heavenly Father, they choose to live in sin and choose their fleshly desires over the blessings of the Lord.
There will always be trials and heartache in life, that's a part of living in a fallen world. However, when we choose the blessing - we have the WORD of the ALMIGHTY GOD ready to stand with us against every evil force! The scriptures below explain what happens when we choose to OBEY.
DEUTERONOMY 28:1-14 1 “Now it SHALL come to pass, if you diligently OBEY the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 AND ALL THESE BLESSINGS SHALL COME UPON YOU AND OVERTAKE YOU, BECAUSE YOU OBEY THE VOICE OF THE LOERD YOU GOD: 3 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. 4 “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. 5 “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. 7 “The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. 8 “The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. 9 “The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. 10 Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. 12 The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
YOU MUST KNOW THE WORD, THE WORD, THE WORD!!!!
PSALMS 119:11 11 YOUR WORD I HAVE HID IN MY HEART, THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINT YOU.
The only way we can DEFEAT Satan and fully receive the blessings of GOD by KNOWING THE WORD. There are NO excuses! NONE! God says to wrap His word around our neck like a chain and engrave it in stone on your heart!
Proverbs 6:21 21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. Proverbs 3:3 3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.
HAVE YOU DONE THIS? Have you hidden God's word in your heart so that when trials come, you can stand on it and shove it in the enemies face? Satan is a legalist, and he WILL use scripture AGAINT you in an effort to keep you from receiving all YOUR blessings. ESPECIALLY if you are following after Christ. You read that right, Satan knows the Word, probably even better than most Christians. In Matthew 4:1-11, Satan tried to tempt Jesus by distorting the Word of God against Him. BUT Jesus defeated Satan by knowing the TRUTH of the WORD. If you don't know the truth of scripture, then how are you going to know when Satan is taking Gods word and TWISTING it, trying to deceive you?
2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
Sadly, the deception of Satan happens in churches all the time. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns us to BEWARE of those who don't preach truth. However, far too many of today's 'Christians' don't actually read the Word of God, and as a result, have no idea when they are being taught false religious doctrine or even lies. Don't be a pew sitter or a 'back row Baptist'. Don't just sit in church and believe everything being said without researching the scriptures for yourself! As you read the Word, ask the HOLY SPIRIT guide and teach you into all truth!
Prayer
Father God, put a hunger in your people to KNOW Your Word as a wealthy treasure that they refuse to live without. Holy Spirit, I ask that You open eyes of understanding and open ears to hear and know truth. Empower your people with your mighty WORD! Give them obedient hearts, and overtake them with your BLESSINGS! In Jesus name Amen
