Be Well
In scripture, there are times the Lord commands things of us. Any time that God commands something, we need to pay attention. His commandments are 100% meant for our good. These guidelines aren't meant to control or limit us, in fact - it's quite the opposite! When God commands something, it is always for our protection and provision in all three areas of our being: Spirit, Soul & Body. He cares only for the benefit your good and well being.
The 10 commandments are listed below. We are not to fear them, they are a guide for us and we have all broken some of them, be quick to repent and receive forgiveness and move on, the Spirit of God will help you to do better.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. You shall have no other gods before Me. 2. You shall not make idols. 3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. 4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 5. Honor your father and your mother. 6. You shall not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 10. You shall not covet.
The enemy has tried to pervert everything God has said and done for the sole purpose of destroying us. Satan's agenda is to deceive us and bring us toward a path of destruction. Nothing has changed in his tactics or approach since the beginning of time. Just like he decieved Adam and Eve, he tempts us to sin by making us feel as if God was holding out on us. Often, he makes it so enticing to our fleshly appetites and then lies to us that we can't resist. But the painful consequences of falling into those sins can affect us for years to come. Giving in to sin is never worth it. But the good news is, WE CAN RESIT THE DEVIL AND HE MUST FLEE! Praise be to God, who is full of mercy and grace to cleanse and forgive us of ALL our sins! Even if the weight of your sin seems unforgivable, He is able to restore, heal and delivers you from ALL of it!
That being said, there are many who refuse to ALLOW God deliver them and heal their wounded hearts. Maybe even some of you reading this devotional. Instead of receiving the goodness of grace, you have chosen to suffer in guilt, shame, condemnation, self pity and depression.
The truth is that the enemy had deceived you! You are caught in his trap of self punishment. But here's the truth that will set you free! JESUS TOOK ALL YOUR SIN AND SHAME AND SET YOU FREE FROM ALL BONDAGE! Turn whatever is tormenting you back over to Him, and choose to forgive yourself.
Far too many Christians are are holding themselves in prison, when Jesus has already released them! If you're struggling with forgiving yourself and letting go of the past, I encourage you receive this gift of freedom and stop condemning yourself. ROMANS 8:1-2 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
SCRIPTURES FOR OUR GOOD AND GUIDELINES FOR LIFE
1 JOHN 5:3 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are NOT BURDENSOME . DEUTERONOMY 6:5 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. DEUTERONOMY 5:16 16 ‘Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, THAT YOUR DAYS MAY BE LONG, AND THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. DEUTERONOMY 6:24-25 24 And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, FOR OUR GOOD ALWAYS, that He might PRESERVE US ALIVE, as it is this day. 25 Then it will be righteousness FOR US, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us.’ DEUTERONOMY 5:29 29 Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, THAT IT MIGHT BE WELL WITH THEM AND THEIR CHILDREN FOREVER! DEUTERONOMY 5:33 33 You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you MAY LIVE and that IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, and that you may PROLONG YOUR DAYS in the land which you shall possess. DEUTERONOMY 6:18 18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, and that you may go in and possess the good land of which the LORD swore to your fathers, DEUTERONOMY 6:3 3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ When God repeats Himself in scripture like this, you can bet He is serious. He says "BE WELL" because He loves us and wants to bless us. He wants us us to BE WELL in our spirit, soul and body. Part of that means following his commandments, listening to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and pursuing Jesus above all else. We are meant to walk in victory. It's time we start acting like the sons and daughters of the most high God! I encourage you, go out and BE WELL today, and every day!
