The Abundant Life: Letting God's Abundance Overflow

Does God really want us to live in abundance? Is it really possible to live a debt free life?

Are Christians truly supposed to prosper? The answer is a resounding YES!

2 CORINTHIANS 1:20 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

One day last year I was walking around my home, and the Holy Spirit spoke very strongly to me, "I love fulfilling My promises." God promises abundance to his children. He intends for us all to live a life full of His overflow. In fact, it brings Him great joy when we are walking in the fullness of Him. That being said, circumstances in life can distract us from truly receiving from God, as can believing lies from the enemy. Sometimes, we end up not living as children of God should. One of the most pertinent lies that has been passed down in the churches and is that of false humility. Many Christians believe that they are to scrape by with just barely enough to survive. That's just not true! This is one of the symptoms of a religious spirit that has been choking God's people and stealing their inheritance from them! We know that knowledge is power, and it's time for God's people have Kingdom knowledge and start thriving in it. God wants us to prosper so much, that we can't help but give some of it away. We serve a God who wants us to to live in the overflow of His abundance. Amen!

First things first, let's look at the definition of Abundance:

1. A very large quantity of something

2. Affluence, Wealth

3. Relative degree of plentifulness

Large quantity, affluence, wealth, plentifulness - that doesn't sound like a mountain of debt or struggling to get by, does it? God has called us to live abundant lives. He promises us that in His Word, AND He loves fulfilling His promises!

JOHN 10:10

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I (JESUS) came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

Kingdom Key: For you to truly walk in abundance, you must first receive healing from the Father. You have to let the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth, and heal any damage from past mistakes or soul wounds. Remember, your soul is your mind, will and emotions. Any time there is damage to your soul, it can be a hindrance to what God wants to do in your life. His desire is for you to live in complete victory, and that starts with healing your soul. Ask the Lord to reveal if there is any damage, hidden or otherwise, that He needs to heal. The Holy Spirit will reveal those hurts to you, and you can begin to address them. As your soul heals, you will then be able to prosper and have abundance in every area of your life. Satan wants to keep us wounded and living in pain, but our Redeemer paid the price so that we may be healed and whole again in our soul.

So, what would life look like with God's promise of abundance on it?

Let's examine what scripture says about it:

ABUNDANCE OF INCREASE

PSALM 115:14 The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

Increase, simply put, means growth. That means that God's desire is that we grow in every area of our lives. We are meant to grow in love, toward the Father and others. We should have an increase of supernatural joy. When living in the promise of abundance, our heart's should be so full that everyone around us will take notice. God also desires for our children and family to increase in these things as well. He is truly a good Father!

ABUNDANCE OF PROSPERITY

DEUTERONOMY 28:11-13 11 THE LORD WILL GRANT YOU ABUNDANT PROSPERITY – in the fruit of your WOMB, the YOUNG of your LIVESTOCK and the CROPS of your GROUND – in the LAND he swore to your ancestors to give you.

12 The Lord will OPEN THE HEAVENS, the STOREHOUSE of his BOUNTY, to send RAIN on your land in season and to BLESS ALL THE WORK OF YOU HANDS. You will LEND to many nations but WILL BORROW FROM NONE.

13 The Lord will MAKE YOU THE HEAD, not the tail. IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD YOUR GOD I GIVE YOU THIS DAY AND CAREFULLY FOLLOW THEM, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE AT THE TOP, NEVER THE BOTTOM.

DEUTERONOMY 29:9 CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE TERMS of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.

Having an abundance of prosperity means that all areas of your life are flourishing. From your finances, to your health, your marriage, your children, your investments, everything! God promises that when we keep our covenant with Him and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, as a result, we will prosper in everything we do. He desires for us to be successful and lead lives overflowing with His abundance!

ABUNDANCE OF HEALTH

3 JOHN 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosper.

God wants us to have an abundance of health, not just in our physical bodies, but in our soul as well. Jesus said that 'above all' He desires for us to prosper in health. When He died on the cross for our sins, He took on all our sickness, disease, depression, anxiety, etc. and set us free from that bondage. Receive it, and walk in an abundance of health!

ABUNDANCE OF PEACE

Matthew 6:33-34

33 But SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

True peace comes the knowledge that our Father in heaven is taking care of us. He tells us to seek His Kingdom and righteousness first, and in doing that, we will have an abundance of peace. We are not meant to have anxiety or worries about what's going on in the world, or what will happen tomorrow. We are supposed to rest in the knowledge that God is taking care of our needs.

ABUNDANCE OF WEALTH

PROVERBS 10:22 The blessing of the Lord brings WEALTH, without painful toil for it.

DEUTERONOMY 8:18 But REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce WEALTH, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

God promises us the ability to produce wealth! He even says that it won't be difficult to achieve. We all have gifts and abilities from God. He specifically designed those gifts within us to help us prosper. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we have been given access to gain wealth in our lives.

PRINCIPLE OF TITHING

MALACHI 3:10-12 10 BRING THE WHOLE TITHE INTO THE STOREHOUSE , that there may be food in my house. TEST ME IN THIS,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.

12 Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land

Kingdom Key: When we tithe, God promises to provide an overflow of abundance. This is the only place in scripture that He asks us to test Him in something. He's basically daring us to tithe (give the first 10% of our income), and watch what He does with it! So many Christians have a hard time with giving because of fear. That's just the lie of the enemy trying to keep us from receiving the true overflow of God's abundance. If you haven't been giving 10% as a tithe to your home church, I encourage you to do so; and then stand on these scriptures, in faith, declaring that God will provide an overflow of abundance! If you can't fully commit to 10% right away, then give just $5 more than you currently are. And as your faith grows, the next week give $10 more, eventually leading up to your full tithe. God's Word does not return void and He LOVES TO FULFILL HIS PROMISES! Test Him in your giving and then watch Him change your whole perception of what it means to live in an overflow of abundance!

These are just a few examples in scripture of how God promises abundance to His children. His promise of abundance goes on and on, because He truly wants us to understand that He only wants to give good things to His children. If you will meditate on the Word of God, start believing it, and obey, your life is going to change drastically. We must learn to live in the overflow of abundance. God is the creator of everything, therefore He wants His children to inherit what is rightfully theirs. Learn to receive from God. The principles of sowing and reaping are self-evident. Many of you have been faithful with your tithes and offerings. You have seen the importance of sowing into the Kingdom, but you also have to learn receive the harvest. God wants to reap the benefits of what you've sown. It's time to receive it!

PRAYER

Father, Your Word is wonderful! I choose right now to receive your overflow of abundance in my life! I want to bring joy to You by allowing You to fulfill Your promises in my life. I lift my soul before you. I praise Jesus my redeemer for healing any wounds that may be hindering me from receiving Your overflow of abundance. Holy Spirit, I ask that You reveal anything within me that would stop me from fully receiving this abundance. I Declare and I Decree that today, I am excellent of soul and I will prosper and live in abundance! I proclaim that I have perfect health: spirit, soul and body. I choose NOW to live in Your extravagant overflow of abundance! Let it be so, in the might name of JESUS! Amen
